Dr. Shara S. Conway
Biography
Dr. Conway is excited to join the staff of Ramstein Elementary School as Assistant Principal for the 2022-23 school year. She had the privilege of serving as a Literacy Specialist in both DoDEA Americas Southeast and DoDEA Pacific West District over the past 9 years. During her time as a Reading Instructional Support Teacher, Dr. Conway maintained focus on building strong relationships with students, teachers, families, and her community. She also provided countless resources to assist in building individual capacity as well as assist with intervention and progress monitoring.
Dr. Conway joined DoDEA in 2013 as a Reading Instructional Support Teacher at Mudge Elementary School in Fort Knox, KY. There, she served in multiple leadership roles and worked with team members to promote student success and achievement. Upon the school’s closing she relocated to Fort Benning, GA as a Reading Instructional Support Teacher and served a year as a kindergarten teacher. She served in multiple leadership roles and worked alongside administrators and colleagues to establish effective focused collaboration practices and helped the school to achieve glowing recognition during the school accreditation process. In 2021, she relocated to the Pacific West District and served in the same capacity at Daegu Elementary School. She loved living in South Korea and the many adventures it had to offer. More importantly, she loved the DoDEA community and lifelong relationships formed.
Prior to joining DoDEA, Dr. Conway worked as a public school teacher for 7 years in 2nd and 5th grades. Her experiences have allowed her to teach students from all walks of life and focus on a variety of professional development opportunities. These include the implementation and progress monitoring of research-based interventions, teacher collaboration, guided reading instruction, writing traits, differentiated instruction, teacher support specialist and the Student Support Team process.
Dr. Conway is a Spelman College alumna and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, she obtained a Master’s degree in Education Leadership from Georgia State University, a Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Reading from Mercer University and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from William Carey University.
Dr. Conway enjoys all things reading and literacy related, travel and values time spent with family and friends. She is grateful to join Ramstein Intermediate School and looks forward to forming new lifelong relationships with her DoDEA Europe East Community!
